Understanding Learning Disabilities and Autism Training for GP Practices in Newham

About this event

What is a learning disability vs a learning difficulty? What is autism/high functioning autism? How does mental health present in those with LD and/or autism? Why do people with learning disabilities and/or autism have worse physical and mental health than the general population? What can be done to improve these outcomes?

Join us as we answer these questions and more during our 3 hour online course suitable for GPs, Nurses, HCAs, Administration Staff and Practice Managers who work in Newham GP surgeries.

Sign up to one of our training sessions which are running between July – December 2022. Please note that places are limited and are offered on a first come first serve basis. This training has been funded by NEL CCG (Newham) and the London Borough of Newham.

Delivered by Hopeful Futures CIC, a Newham based community interest company supporting those with learning disabilities & autism, we have two trainers delivering these sessions: Alice who is a registered learning disability nurse with experience supporting those with complex needs and behaviours which can be challenging to understand and support, and Alison who is an expert by experience and who also has a vast background in community projects supporting those with LD, autism & their families.
