Launch of Evaluation Report on Health & Wellbeing Coaches in North East London

21 September 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

The North East London (NEL) Personalised Care Programme Team is delighted to invite you to the official launch of our publication: Making a Difference – an evaluation of Health & Wellbeing Coaches (HWBCs) in North East London on Wednesday 21st September 2022 at 1.30pm – 3.30pm.

NHS North East London and The Shoreditch Trust jointly commissioned Professor Richard Griffin at King’s College London to undertake this work, exploring the experience and impact of Health and Wellbeing Coaches in North East London.

It is well documented that populations and people have improved experiences and better health outcomes when empowered to actively participate and self-manage their health and wellbeing.

HWBCs are integral to this, bringing vital specialist coaching skills, experience and behaviour change methods as well as a holistic way of working into primary care settings so people can be active participants in their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

The findings highlight exemplar work and tangible impact of health coaching in NEL, as well as a call to action to ensure we have a well-trained, supported and thriving health and wellbeing coach workforce. The recommendations from the Kings College London evaluation will also contribute to our plans for personalised care.

In NEL we want to see expansion of the health coaching workforce, and this is also reflected in the recent announcement from NHS England on winter planning which calls for rapid recruitment of personalised care workforce ‘amongst measures to alleviate GP pressures’.
