Workplace Violence and Aggression – Supporting the Trainer Workshop

March 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

A workshop to help you support your trainees’ following incidents of workplace violence and aggression. Open to multiprofessional educators from primary and secondary care

Workplace violence and aggression can be common in the healthcare setting and can have a significant impact on the individual resulting in anxiety, depression and PTSD. It can leave staff questioning their competence, confidence, organisation and willingness to continue in the role. The majority of trainees will report workplace violence and aggression to their supervisor; the supervisor/educator’s response and follow-up can have a significant mitigation on the impact of workplace violence and aggression for the trainee.

This workshop highlights the types, occurrence, risk factors and impact of workplace violence and aggression through survey data and case studies. It includes discussion on trauma informed work, practical application and pathways for trainee support which could be implemented locally. It also provides space for trainer reflection on the issue of workplace violence and aggression as well as the impact this has on the whole workforce.
